Mar. 6--The government should continue striving to lift the confidence of foreign investors even though there is a steady flow of funds into the stock market, according to Supachai Panitchpakdi, a former commerce minister.

Mr Supachai, a deputy prime minister in the previous government and the next head of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), said that about $300 million in foreign capital had flowed into the market in recent months, a vital factor strengthening the SET index and the baht. The new capital inflow was about one-third of the outflow between the start of the economic crisis in 1997 and the end of 1999.
