Mar. 5--After working hard to return to profitability last year, Charoong Thai Wire & Cable Plc (CTW) hopes to pay a dividend this year.
CTW posted 139 million baht in consolidated net profit last year on sales of 1.756 billion baht. However, it did not pay a dividend. It recorded losses of 117 million baht in 1999 and 88 million in 2000. It stopped paying dividends in 1997.
The company had struggled over the past four years and made a profit in 1998 only because of foreign-exchange gains due to the weak baht, said David Sun, the managing director.
