Mar. 5--The four-to-five star hotel market in Bangkok has remained healthy for 12 months despite the continuing global economic slowdown and unrest in Afghanistan, according to Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels.
The five-star hotel market in Bangkok registered a 20 percent increase in the average daily rate to 4,840 baht in 2001, and only experienced a 5 percent drop in the average occupancy to 63 percent.
The four-star market growth was not as strong as the five-star segment during 2001, closing with an average daily rate of 1,563 baht, a decrease of 16 percent from 2000 and an occupancy of 74 percent, down 2 percent from 2000.
