Apr. 4--The first Thai-made motorcycle brand, Tiger, is set to claw market share away from now dominant Japanese rivals.
Motorcycle industry veteran Piti Manomaiphibul will launch the first model commercially next month. Three versions of the Tiger Smart will be available, priced between 29,000 and 33,700 baht, or 3,000 to 6,000 baht cheaper than Japanese counterparts.
The family-type motorcycle, powered by a four-stroke, 120cc engine, was designed and made by PDK Co, a major local producer of decorative accessories for motorcycles. The model is making its debut at the Bangkok Motor Show, which ends on Sunday.
