Apr. 4--Thai Farmers Bank says that the improved economy has helped boost prospects for profits this year.
Banthoon Lamsam, president of Thai Farmers Bank, said overall conditions for the banking sector were improving, although he declined to give forecasts on performance.
TFB reported net profits of one billion baht last year, slightly down from 1.26 billion in 2000. The decline was attributed to 2.9 billion baht in additional provisions for asset impairment, and 1.29 billion in provisions for loan losses. In the first quarter, the bank reported net profits of 58.6 million baht.
