Apr. 2--The Commerce Ministry yesterday revised downward its inflation forecast for the year to between 1 percent and 1.5 percent, due largely to falling goods prices and the stronger baht.
Earlier, the Internal Trade Department had predicted that the inflation would be between 1.8 percent and 2 percent, compared with 1.6 percent in 2001.
Upsorn Reongvan, the deputy director-general of the department, said there were signs that prices of farm products, which accounted for nearly 20 percent of all weighted goods, would increase only slightly this year due to higher yields.
