May 4--A new system, claimed to be open and fair, will be proposed to control the collection of music copyright fees.
The Commerce Ministry's proposal, which will go before the cabinet for approval on Tuesday, would require copyright owners to tell the Internal Trade Department of the number and details of songs involved, the fee charged and the name of the collection agency.
Newin Chidchob, the deputy commerce minister, said yesterday the ministry would let the market determine the fees rather than impose a ceiling.
