May 3--BankThai economists expect that economic growth this year could reach 3.9 percent, driven by gains in the global economy and a recovery in domestic consumption.
The projection exceeds the current 3.8 percent growth forecast set by the Finance Ministry, and the 2.5-3.5 percent range projected by the Bank of Thailand.
Anusorn Tamajai, senior vice-president for research and planning at BankThai, said that business and consumer confidence had shown steady gains in recent months, a positive sign for future growth.
