May 2--Inflation measured by the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.4 percent year-on-year in April, according to the Internal Trade Department.

For the first quarter, the increase was 0.6 percent year-on-year.

The CPI last month stood at 104.2, an increase of 0.5 percent from 103.7 in March.

Apart from fuel and some farm products, the prices of most items included in calculating the index remained unchanged between March and April, said Siripol Yodmuangcharoen, the department's director-general.
