May 2--The Finance Ministry is considering revising regulations on liquor production and distribution to allow more medium-sized firms to enter the industry, according to Vijit Vongvivat, deputy director-general of the Excise Department.
The department currently requires producers of distilled spirits such as white spirits and whiskey to have a facility of at least 200 rai in size and production capacity of at least 90,000 litres per day, based on an alcohol level of 28 percent.
The regulations were established two years ago, when the Excise Department liberalised long-standing monopolies on liquor production. But ...
