May 1--The alternative route of the controversial Thai-Malaysian natural gas pipeline will cost US$5 million (215 million baht) more than the existing proposed route, according to a PTT Plc executive who asked not to be named.
Viset Choopiban, PTT president, would say only that the cost of the new route would not be much different from that of the current one, which cost approximately $900 million.
The proposed alternative route was only 25 kilometres away from the current route.
Still, the change of route would require more time to review the environmental impact, he said, but declined to give specific details. ...
