Mobile Phone Operator in Thailand Set to Invest 16 Billion Baht in Network.

May 1--Mobile phone operator DTAC said yesterday that it would invest 16 billion baht to enhance the nationwide capacity and coverage of its network this year.

About 1,000 new cell sites for both indoor and outdoor coverage would be added to the network, said Total Access Communication, the DTAC operator.

With the expansion, DTAC's capacity will be able to serve up to six million subscribers with 4,346 digital cell sites nationwide. The company currently has slightly more than three million subscribers.

Rival Digital Phone Co, meanwhile, announced plans to spend US$70 million (three billion baht) to expand its network to cover 47 provinces this ...
