May 1--Charoen Pokphand Food Plc is investing US $5 million to set up a fish-feed plant in Guangxi in southern China. It is the first 100 percent offshore investment by the listed food and agribusiness flagship of the CP Group.
The plant in Beihai has an annual capacity to produce 30,000 tons of shrimp feed and 20,000 tons of feed for fish to be marketed locally.
The Chinese government has exempted the venture from corporate tax for five years, starting from the first year of profitability. The firm projects net profit of $10 million over five year, or an average of 9 percent a year.
