Jun. 3--The transport and communications minister has scrapped a plan that called for the merger of two state telecom agencies into a new company and listing on the stock exchange, in the face of mounting pressure by the telephone agency's management and its union.
The plan, supported by Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, would have merged the Telephone Organisation of Thailand and Communications Authority of Thailand as Thai Telecom Co Ltd.
