Jun. 3--The loss or theft of Bangkok Metropolitan Bank's lending documents during its absorption by Siam City Bank (SCIB) has been slight when compared with previous such instances, according to Sompol Kiatpaiboon, the new president of SCIB.
SCIB wanted to make sure that the problems surrounding the closure of the Bangkok Bank of Commerce (BBC) in 1998 would not be repeated. Several vital documents were either lost or stolen.
The loss caused considerable damage to the Financial Institutions Development Fund, the owner of the BBC, as it lacked documentary proof required to recall a number of large loans.
