SYDNEY David Wenham, Hannie Rayson and David Williamson all will make appearances in the 2005 season at Melbourne Theater Company.

And in a nod to the mother country, MTC has programmed four contempo Brit plays and Shakespeare's "King Lear," toplining Frank Gallacher.

Wenham, best known for playing Faramir in "The Lord of the Rings" pics, will headline "Cyrano de Bergerac."

Helmer Aidan Fennessy makes his MTC debut with Alan Ayckbourn's "Things We Do for Love." Bille Brown and Caroline Craig headline Terry Johnson's "Hitchcock Blonde." Catherine McClements stars in Martin Crimp's "Cruel and Tender."
