One cannot help thinking of Neeme Jarvi and Paavo Berglund when hearing the name Paavo Jarvi, and, indeed, the younger Jarvi shares the same no-nonsense approach to music making as the older men. In this collection of famous short pieces by Russian masters, the music is straightforward to a fault and generally the better for it.
