World Cup Boosts Advertising Spending in Asia.

Aug. 3--Media spending in Thailand and most other Asian countries surveyed rose in the second quarter of this year, according to Nielsen Media Research.

The World Cup soccer tournament and strong domestic economies were key factors boosting growth, with Thailand posting a 14 percent increase to US$356 million for the quarter, year-on-year.

Singapore was the only exception, posting a 5 percent fall in spending, to US$216 million.

The research was carried out in China, South Korea, India, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

Media spending in Indonesia led the way in percentage terms with a 42 percent ...
