Aug. 2--The Yamaha Nuovo automatic transmission motorcycle had received a heavy response from the market which was beyond expectations, according to Tomotaka Ishikawa, president of Thai Yamaha Motor Co.

He said the Nuovo would create a new segment in the domestic motorcycle market, helping to broaden Yamaha's customer base and increase its market share this year.

Mr Ishikawa said orders were running at 4,000 to 5,000 units a month but the company could deliver only 3,000 to 3,500 units a month.
