Aug. 1--The incoming director-general of the World Trade Organisation, Supachai Panitchpakdi, has promised to make the multilateral trading system more open to international society.
The WTO would hold more dialogues with international organisations, as well as the private sector, to work on development aspects in line with the consensus reached at the Doha conference last November, said Dr Supachai, who is scheduled to leave Bangkok for Geneva in mid-August to take over the WTO leadership from Mike Moore of New Zealand.
