Aug. 1--TelecomAsia plans to issue about 21.25 billion baht worth of debentures in order to pay down its US dollar debt and eliminate foreign-exchange risk.
The debentures will be separated into two lots. The first will be a secured baht debenture of about 14.5 billion baht, with a maturity of 5.75 years, to be offered to the public.
The principal and interest on the debentures would be paid quarterly until June 2008. The interest rate is expected to be fixed between 6.0 percent to 6.75 percent for the first three years, and to float based on the minimum lending rate (MLR) thereafter.
