Jul. 27--Circuit City has no explanation for how a 32-inch television set fell off a stand Wednesday and fatally injured a 5-year-old girl at a store in Orem, Utah.

Chief Executive Officer W. Alan McCullough returned to Richmond yesterday after flying to Utah on Thursday to offer his condolences to the girl's family and to help in the investigation.

There were no witnesses, and no security cameras recorded the event, said Ann Collier, vice president of financial and public affairs at Richmond-based Circuit City.
