Sep. 2--Expanding the investor base will be crucial to ensuring the overall health of the securities system once commission structures are fully liberalised in 2004, according to Rapee Sucharitakul, assistant secretary-general of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The Stock Exchange of Thailand has made increasing the investor base a priority, launching a number of investment fairs and educational programmes to attract the public to the capital markets.
