Oct. 5--Sales of vegetarian food in Bangkok during a nine-day festival, which starts today, are expected to reach 1.1 billion baht, 22 percent more than during the same event last year.
Thai Farmers Research Centre made this projection based on a consumer survey. It said almost two million Bangkok residents would participate in the festival to varying degrees, with 500,000 people planning to consume only vegetarian food for the entire period.
The participants were expected to spend an average of 100 baht a day on vegetarian food during the festival, with those aged 13 to 30 years spending the least at 85 baht a day, and those aged 41 to 60 years spending ...
