Oct. 4--Exports of Thai-made Mitsubishi vehicles in August surged in value by 75.3 percent year-on-year, bucking the industry trend in which overall auto export value shrank by 3.2 percent, according to Vatchara Panchet, executive vice-president of MMC Sittipol Co.
Thai automobile exports earned 9.52 billion baht from 15,306 vehicles shipped in August. Mitsubishi's share was 3.28 billion baht from 7,267 vehicles.
General Motors exported 3.409 units worth 1.98 billion baht, down 36.4 percent in value. AutoAlliance, the Ford-Mazda joint venture, shipped 3,305 units worth 1.29 billion baht, down 0.7 percent.
