Oct. 4--With alternative medical treatment gaining popularity, Piyavate Hospital Plc will convert 400 of its 500 beds to cater for massages, spa services, yoga, meditation and herbal therapy.
The change would be made gradually, starting with 30 beds, said Dr Boon Vanasin, the company's chairman.
Alternative medicine was becoming more popular worldwide given its minor side-effects and lower cost than conventional treatment, he said.
For example, in Germany, 30 percent of the population had tried alternative medicine treatments, 20 percent in Singapore and 30 percent in South Korea.
