Thai Official Wants Route of Cultural Interest in Every Province.
Oct. 3--Known for his ideas to promote tourism, some of them exotic and some surreal, Prime Minister's Office minister Somsak Thepsuthin yesterday declared that every province in the country should have a "romantic" street.
The idea is not what it might appear at first. Mr Somsak's idea was to promote short routes of scenic and cultural interest that could become magnets for local and foreign visitors.
Private-sector businesses would be invited to nominate streets or routes in their provinces that might be deserving of the "romantic" designation and submit proposals to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), he said.
