Oct. 1--Thai Airways International (THAI) is planning to lease one jumbo jet to cope with increasing passenger loads and capacity shortages until it can take delivery of new aircraft.
The plan, however, has raised questions among some board members about the economic viability of leasing the Boeing 747-400 plane and putting it into service in fiscal year 2003, which begins today.
The national carrier is due to take delivery of two Boeing 747-400s and one Airbus A330 over the next 15 months.
