Jacob Palillo was elected mayor of Niagara Falls in November after promising to sharply change the course followed by Michael O'Laughlin's administration.

Palillo, who ended the city's involvement in the proposed Manufacturers MegaMall April 3, turned his attention to another downtown project April 21, when he initiated a foreclosure action against the Niagara Splash water park.
State Supreme Court Justice Edward Rath appointed Niagara Falls lawyer Benjamin Hewitt as the park's receiver. Hewitt will operate Niagara Splash for the court until Rath rules on the foreclosure suit.
