The talks between the Mauritian minister for foreign affairs, Jayen Cuttaree, and his British counterpart, Jack Straw, yesterday, focused on the Chagos archipelago and sugar. The Mauritian foreign minister, who returned home this morning, said "The talks were held in a friendly atmosphere and new ideas were exchanged".
