Nov. 5--Trade and investment among countries in the Greater Mekong Subregion is expected to flourish on the back of China's promise of trading privileges for its southern neighbours and Thailand's upbeat support for infrastructure development.

Somchith Inthamith, the Foreign Ministry's director-general of economic affairs, said Vientiane hoped that Generalised Special Privileges (GSP) granted by China would boost foreign direct investment in Laos as investors would benefit from exporting their products from Laos to China.
