Nov. 13--LENOIR, N.C.--Two losing Caldwell County candidates challenged the results of the Nov. 5 election on Tuesday because of allegations of vote-buying, which are being investigated by the State Bureau of Investigation and the N.C. Board of Elections.
Caldwell County Sheriff Roger Hutchings, a Democrat who lost a re-election bid to Republican Gary Clark, filed a protest with the Caldwell County Board of Elections, asking the board to investigate the election. Bill Wall, a Democrat who lost a bid for county commissioner, filed a similar protest.
