Thailand's expansion of steel import quota a 'compromise' for Japan.

Oct. 4--Expanding the import quota for hot-rolled steel sheet exempted from anti-dumping (AD) duties is seen as a compromise to placate Japanese steel users who are upset over the reimposition of penalty duties on the products from 14 countries, according to a source at the Industry Ministry.
Since the Japanese were the largest investors in Thailand, he said, the government didn't want to create a strained atmosphere that would discourage them from making further investments.
