Oct. 4--Given the steady rise in world rubber demand, China's plan to substantially increase its rubber plantation areas is unlikely to pose much of a threat to Thai rubber exports and world prices, according to industry experts.
Based on findings from Agricultural Economics Department officials who visited China in August, Beijing is planning to increase the nation's plantation area by 500,000 rai to 4.69 million rai to produce about 570,000 tonnes of rubber a year.
