Dec. 4--Shopping spending during the upcoming festive season is expected to remain flat at last year's level, as consumers' confidence remains shaky, according to Kanok Wongtrangan, chief executive officer of Robinson Department Store Plc.
He said unfavourable external factors, such as the uncertain world economy and terrorist threats, weighed heavily on shoppers' moods. But the country's third largest department store expected its sales from November to January to grow by 10 percent from the previous year, driven by promotional activities.
