PARIS, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Two ships carrying weapons-grade plutonium from the United States are due to arrive at a French port in a matter of hours, according to the environmental group Greenpeace, which claims the shipment presents a major environmental and security risk.
The shipment of some 300 pounds of plutonium from South Carolina to the French port of Cherbourg marks the first time the United States has sent the material overseas for reprocessing.
