Vice President Dick Cheney recently credited Internet auction king eBay with boosting the economy.
"400,000 people make some money trading on eBay," he said.
There's money to be made off those eBay sellers, too. A group of service companies are fast surfacing to help small businesses and individuals sell goods on eBay, in return for a share of the $24 billion a year in goods that changes hands on that huge e-commerce site.
AuctionDrop and iSoldIt, both privately held firms, are among companies that have popped up to provide middleman services to eBay sellers.
They help sellers set up their eBay auction, make sure products are shipped to buyers and perform other tasks to assure a smooth transaction. In return, they get a cut of the final sale price, typically 20% to 38%.
They say they provide needed expertise in an increasingly competitive e-marketplace.
