Oct. 1--The Commerce Ministry might scrap the anti-dumping duties on imports of hot-rolled steel sheets from 14 countries if found that the AD has a psychological effect, driving prices of all steel products to soar.

Commerce Minister Watana Muangsook said he would take a week to consider the issue with the Industry Minister, steel producers and users.

His idea came after Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra on Tuesday ordered the Commerce and Industry Ministries to curb the prices of steel to help contractors overcome problems that could delay the construction of the Suvarnabhumi Airport. Mr Thaksin spent a night at the ...
