Oct. 1--About 100 National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) officials yesterday dressed in black to protest against the appointment of Ampon Kittiampon, the deputy permanent secretary for the Agriculture Ministry, as the agency's new secretary-general, effective today.

An NESDB source said the protest was initiated by a group of C-10 level officials who persuaded their colleagues to wear black in order to express their opposition to the government's choice of Mr Ampon to succeed outgoing secretary-general Chakramon Phasukvanich.
