Thai finance minister says Asean to be $1-trillion bloc by 2010.

Oct. 1--Within five years, Asean was expected to grow into a $1-trillion (41.5-trillion-baht) economic bloc that would play an increasingly key role in the global economy, according to Finance Minister Somkid Jatusripitak.
Dr Somkid was speaking in New York on a roadshow presentation with Asean finance ministers to promote investment opportunities within Southeast Asia.
He said economic growth for Asean would average around 6 percent this year, a pace of growth that surpasses other regions around the globe.
