40% of Linux PCs do Windows
Two-fifths of Linux-installed PCs will be scrubbed clean to use a pirated version of Windows, a study from Gartner shows. It also found that 11% of all PCs shipped in emerging markets will have Linux on them. Gartner also found up to 80% of the Linux machines in emerging markets will be running pirated copies of Windows. The study concludes vendors load the PCs with Linux to avoid Microsoft licensing fees, and Linux sales are boosted by would-be Windows users.
