Euro zone's inflation rate eases
The region's consumer price index dropped to 2.2% in Sept. from 2.3% in Aug., Eurostat said. Also Thursday, the EU's index consumer confidence in the euro zone improved to -13 in Sept. from -14 in Aug. Its business confidence index dropped to 0.48 in Sept. from 0.51 in Aug. in part due to weaker export orders from the region's businesses.
** The Conference Board's index of the volume of help wanted ads stood at 37 in Aug., the same level as in July and as in Aug. '03. The index is based on a monthly survey of 51 U.S. newspapers.
** M2 money supply rose $29.6 bil to $6.336 tril in the week ended Sept. 20. Meanwhile, M3 grew $44.1 bil to $9.3176 tril and M1 climbed $27.5 bil to $1.3506 tril.
French confidence is improving
