Red Hat to buy Netscape assets
The Linux software provider will acquire some of the products from Netscape's business software line, including a directory server and a certificate management system, with plans to market those as part of its open source architecture. Financial details weren't disclosed, but Red Hat expects to complete the deal with America Online in Q3. Red Hat fell 4% to 12.23.
Disney plans interactive cartoons
The Walt Disney Co. and chipmaker Intel will introduce a service in Japan next month that lets computer users add their own special effects, such as background colors, as they watch Disney cartoons set to classical music.
