Oct. 2--Higher oil prices pushed the September Consumer Price Index (CPI) 3.6 percent higher year-on-year and up 0.4 percent from the previous month, the Commerce Ministry said yesterday.
The CPI, which measures inflation, rose 2.6 percent year-on-year in the January-September period, said Dhumnoon Cheosakul, the ministry's deputy permanent secretary.
Mr Dhumnoon attributed climbing inflation during the first nine months to a 4.8 percent rise in the food and beverage index. The non-food inflation rate was for the same period was a modest 1.4 percent.
