Oct. 2--Commerce Minister Watana Muangsook admitted yesterday that there's little his ministry can do to help curb the impact of bird flu impact on poultry exports.
"There is nothing much worse than this," he said yesterday. "What we can do is just push more exports of processed chicken which fetch higher prices and gross margins than frozen ones."
Mr Watana said the industry needed to turn crisis into opportunity to increase processed meat shipments, particularly since the European Union has extended its suspension of raw chicken meat imports from Thailand until Dec 15.
