The school buses rolling up to Mount Pleasant's Belle Hall Elementary on Oct. 8 will be mostly empty.
On that day, the school will celebrate International Walk to School Day for the sixth time by encouraging students to arrive on foot.
International Walk to School Week begins Monday. The event was started in 1997 by the Partnership for a Walkable America, which in 2000 joined with Canada and Great Britain to create International Walk to School Day.
Last year, more than 3,000 schools nationally participated in the event.
