Oct. 1--The Finance Ministry anticipates a budget surplus of 10-20 billion baht for fiscal 2005 due to steady economic expansion.
Somchai Sujjapongse, deputy director-general of the Fiscal Policy Office, said the projected surplus would help give the government leeway to counter any unanticipated economic shocks next year.
"We don't know what might occur next year. In any case, the government is expected to maintain its policy of letting the private sector take a lead in driving economic growth," he said.
