Shortly after 10 p.m. on June 22, Samuel "Lucky" Parker robbed the D&D Texaco in Alexandria, Louisiana. Alexandria is the parish seat of Rapides Parish, where Parker is also a suspect in numerous other armed robberies, including at least 16 in Alexandria since August 2003.
About 30 minutes after hitting the Texaco station, Parker entered Alexandria's Sunrise Mart convenience store as it was about to close. Store clerk Tamer Abdulwahab and cousin Abdulwahab Zeidan were chatting at the counter while two customers wandered about.
