Developers behind the pending refurbishing of the old Thomas Mall and Colonnade properties are asking the city of Phoenix for help with off-site improvements -- and the city's response could actually make or break either project.
Homart Community Centers Inc. is working with Westcor Partners on the redevelopment of the Colonnade project at 18th Street and Camelback Road. HCCI also is working with Gosnell Builders in an attempt to redevelop the old Thomas Mall property, now known as Camelhead. The two projects are expected to cost about $45 million each.
As developers like to note, the pending infill developments could provide the city with much-needed sales tax revenue to beef up city coffers in tight budgetary times.
