What do an online auction site, a Puerto Rican bank, a Russian wireless services firm and a medical diagnostic products firm have in common?

Another trick question like last week, right? Nope. These members of The IBD 100 are all alike in at least this way: Each one has gone public within the past eight years.

IBD's research of the biggest stock market winners has found that only a small fraction of the best stocks in the previous bull market join the leadership ranks in the next upswing. A 1995 IBD study showed that if a big leader fell more than 89% from its peak, it never returned to its high.
